PTO

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year at Castle North!

Here is a quick overview of our PTO. We hope this information is helpful and that you’re able to find time to get involved!

What is the PTO?

The CNMS PTO is a non-profit organization of parents and teachers working together to ensure our children get the best possible education. We work with the staff and administration on many projects. We do not charge membership dues; our philosophy is that if you have a child enrolled at CNMS or work in the building, you're already a part of the PTO. Despite what your children may tell you, the PTO is very active and does need your support at this age level. We operate a little more behind-the-scenes than in elementary school, but our presence is just as important and we have a terrific working relationship with the administration and staff.

PTO meetings are held monthly at CNMS @9am (3rd Thursday).  Please join us.

What Does PTO do at CNMS?

Not only does PTO organize and fund several different activities throughout the school year, but we also provide a lot of assistance to our school. Here are a few examples of how we help:

• Support each teacher with an allowance of $100

• Offer each grade level an allowance of $750 to help fund new programs, materials, etc

• Provide demerit-free rewards at the conclusion of the school year • Donate two $500 scholarships to graduating CHS seniors who attended CNMS

• Provide recognition awards and refreshments for the Honors Reception

• Coordinate multiple teacher and staff appreciation activities throughout the school year

• Provide food and refreshments for the Veterans Day Program and Science Fair

• Give every teacher and staff member a birthday treat

PTO Programs & Fundraising

Even though we don't charge membership dues, we do need to raise money for the things we do around school (several opportunities for the kids to socialize, classroom money for our teachers, science fair support, etc.). To meet these important objectives, and afford services that are no longer covered by our school budgets, we do have to come up with funds. As often as we can, we try to participate in programs that provide "free money" to our school and will pass information on to you whenever possible. Two of the programs we currently participate in are:

  • Box Tops for Education
  • Schnuck's E-scrip: To participate, all you do is get a card, indicate that you want some (or all) of the proceeds from your purchases to go to CNMS PTO and then swipe your card when you shop at Schnuck's.

Become a Volunteer - Why You Should Get Involved

As you can see, we are a busy group. This is where you come in! We need your help, and so do your children - even at this age! Over 500 independent studies on parent involvement show that when parents get involved in their children's education grades go up, test scores improve, children are more likely to attend better schools after high school, they have fewer discipline problems and they're less likely to use drugs and alcohol. The message is simple: get involved TODAY!

Volunteer:  We understand how valuable your free time is - we're busy parents, too - but whatever your schedule allows, we can put you to good use and we promise your efforts will be appreciated!
