Constructed in 1959
Two Full-Sized Gymnasiums
Built in 1959, the building has been extensively renovated and it once served as Castle High School and then Castle Junior High School before evolving into Castle North Middle School. Today, the one-story structure has four double-loaded corridors arranged in an "E" shape. Within these corridors are classrooms, state-of-the-art science labs, wireless-access computer labs, a state-of-the-art media center, two full-sized gymnasiums with locker rooms, a full-service cafeteria, a nurse/health suite, and multiple administrative office suites with a large front office space.
Outside on the school grounds, the science department, in partnership with students and community members, has built and maintained a full-functioning science lab full of multiple living plants and animals. In addition to this "living lab" is a multi-purpose science lab building located in the back of the school. Also found on the school grounds are soccer fields, a track, and a softball backstop that are used not only by the school's physical education department but also enjoyed by Warrick County residents.
With an eye to the future and a commitment to education, Principal John Bertram sits at the helm of Castle North Middle School's highly educated and trained faculty and staff and a diverse student body of just under 800. In an effort to take students to new heights of achievement, the school offers several levels of study, including honors classes in several disciplines. Numerous clubs and athletic teams provide students with an opportunity to engage in extracurricular activities.
We are proud to be an Indiana 4-Star school.
